One in five Māori report damp whare
One in five Māori surveyed by Statistics New Zealand says the house they live in is damp.
The Perceptions of the Housing Quality report found 9 percent of New Zealanders say they live in a damp house.
The figure for Māori was 22 percent.
People on low-incomes, renters and sole-parent families were considerably more likely than others to report living in a cold, damp, or small house.
However, of the 37 per cent of New Zealanders who reported having at least one major housing problem, 82 per cent were 'very satisfied' or 'satisfied' with their life overall.
