Ahuwhenua Trophy winner Pania King has been appointed to the Winter Grazing Action Group.
Agriculture Minister Damien O’Connor says the group of 15 farming industry members will oversee the implementation of recommendations to improve animal welfare in winter grazing systems.
Animals can get sick from changing their diet from pasture to crops too quickly, and paddocks can quickly get muddy during long wet periods.
Ms King and her husband Eugene farm sheep and beef at Motu, near Gisborne.
