Kura kids a foot ahead

Kids at Te Kura Maori o Waatea have been put on the fast track thanks to a donation of 150 pairs of shows by ASB Bank.
Delivering the shoes this morning, Mangere Bridge branch manager Zain Rasa said the gift came about from a conversation with boxer Davel Letele, who runs his Butter Bean Motivation bootcamps at various locations including the kura.
Mr Rasa says he'll be back at the school to talk about the bank's financial literacy programme for children.
Mr Letele says for many of the tamariki it will be their first pair of new shoes.
He says it can be hard to run on hot concrete or prickly grass without shoes and having the right gear is a big help for sporting activity.
