Wananga extending footprint.
Te Wananga o Aoteaora is extending it's footprint in Kaikohe with new classrooms and facilities at the former Mid North Motor inn.
Aukaha Tangata- Head- Relationships and Recruitment, Shannon Halbert says there’s still accommodation on site, so it’s an opportunity to live and learn.
The wananga runs courses in the mid-north in te reo me nga tikanga, business computing and art, as well as vocational courses under the youth guarantees programme in sports fitness and tourism.
It’s looking at what more it can do for the town’s young people.
"We’ve also launched a homework center for our local secondary school students. Those that want to achieve academically and require the necessary support, that will be launching in another couple of weeks. As well as our secondary – tertiary partnership programme which is about giving a little bit of a taste of the wananga programmes but vocational learning opportunities to secondary school tauira within that rohe as well" says Shanan Halbert
The new campus on Broadway will be officially opened tomorrow.
