Attack on indigenous people is not OK says hikoi organiser

People in cities in Aotearoa, Australia and elsewhere are marching today to protest the West Australian Government’s plans to close remote Aboriginal settlements.
In Hamilton, the march will leave from the Claudelands Events Centre at 1pm.
Organiser Benita Tahuri says a strong message needs to be sent that the Australian attack on its indigenous people is not OK.
She says the march is a way Maori can show they are not alone.
"Linking and aligning the messages of empowerment for our people. Belief in whats right and just and putting it our there. We are just here to support and show support and love. The energies of the universe
will bring that together I believe through karakia and all the other a wairua stuff" says Benita Tahuri
In Auckland there is a rally at 6 this evening at Queen Elizabeth Square beside Britomart.
