Mullins chairs Atihau Whanganui
High profile Māori businesswoman Mavis Mullins has become the first woman to chair one of Māoridom’s largest land incorporations.
She was elected unopposed to Atihau Whanganui on the retirement of former chair Dana Blackburn.
The two time Golden Shears open woolhandling champion has been a director since 2007.
With husband Koro Mullins, she also runs a shearing firm Paewai Mullins Systems, and has served on other Māori land trusts and on Te Huarahi Tika Māori Spectrum Trust.
She says the Atihau Whanganui board has done a lot of work on strategic direction in recent years, working from the basis of He tāonga tuku iho: toitu te whenua, toitu te tangata – productive lands, prosperous peoples.
