Stan Walker feels honoured to star in Mt Zion
From the big stage to the big screen, Stan Walker is stepping up.
The Australian Idol winner is one of the stars of Mt Zion, a new film, written and directed by Te Arepa Kahi.
It tells the story of Turei, who wants to be a musician and get the support spot for Bob Marley's 1979 Auckland concert, against the wishes of his father, who wants him to stay a Pukekohe potato picker.
Walker says it was an honour to be chosen for the role of Turei.
“I fell in love with the story, I fell in love with the characters. Its a relationship between a father and a son. A story about whānau. A story about all for one and one for all. The dream of a young man and the journey to his dream and the decisions he has to make. The crossroads, the trials and the tribulations. The reggae music was a big factor for me”. Stan Walker.
Mt Zion also stars Temuera Morrison as Turei's father, David Wikaira-Paul, Darcey-Ray Flavell-Hudson and Troy Kingi.
There was a red carpet premiere of the film in Manukau last night, and it goes on general release tomorrow, which is Waitangi Day and Bob Marley's birthday.
