Kirikiriroa hui to confirm Māori inquiry terms of reference
The North Island Whānau Ora Commissioning Agency has called a hui in Hamilton on August 19 to confirm the scope and purpose of the national Māori Inquiry into Oranga Tamariki.
The inquiry’s terms of reference will then be presented to Ngā Kawe Mate o te Motu at Tūrangawaewae Marae the following day at the start of the annual Koroneihana hui.
Agency chair Merepeka Raukawa-Tait says the hui will keep the momentum for the inquiry into the uplift of babies and children by the Children's Ministry going, after the first hui in Tāmaki Makaurau which drew more than 500 whānau and highly skilled Māori from a variety of areas, including governance, researchers, clinicians and practitioners.
Submissions on the draft Terms of Reference, which are available on the Commissioning Agency’s website, close on August 16.
The hui is at the Novotel Hotel, Hamilton on Monday, August 19.
