L.A.B setting records at Tui Awards
L.A.B are set to take out the same four Tūī for the second year running at the Aotearoa Music Awards.
Their fifth album L.A.B. V is album of the year, Mr Reggae is single of the year, and they again pick up the best group and best roots arts tohu.
Tami Neilson has won three Tūī, including her sixth best country artist title, as well as best solo artist and best producer for her album Kingmaker, which includes a duet with country legend Willie Nelson.
Rob Ruha’s album Preservation of Scenery wins him the best Soul/RnB Artist title, and his protégés the Te Tairāwhiti tira waiata Ka Hao receive the best Māori artist Tui for Ka Hao: One Tira, One Voice and the Te Māngai Pāho mana reo award for’35’ (featuring Rob Ruha).
Waipu-based metal band Alien Weaponry were judged best rock artist, and Six60 are the highest selling artist for the fourth year running, and won the Radio Airplay Record of the Year for the sixth time for their single ‘Someone To Be Around’.
The Tūī for Te Kōwhiri o te Nuinga | People’s Choice will be tallied up and presented to the recipient this evening and on social media.
