Pandemic shadow over Waitangi events
The Ministry for Culture and Heritage is asking people seeking grants for Waitangi Day events to spell out how they will be run at different COVID alert levels.
There is $288,000 in the fund for events to commemorate the signing of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and promote nation and community building.
Manatū Taonga chief executive Bernadette Cavanagh says projects run in partnership between local authorities, community groups and tangata whenua are particularly encouraged.
Events supported in 2020 included kai festivals, marae open days, heritage tours, workshops, and public performances.
Applications for grants, which generally range from $1000 to $5000, are open until October 19.
