COVID test bungle reviewed
The Health Ministry says it has put steps in place to prevent a repeat of the weekend confusion when a message in its COVID-19 website had thousands of people queuing up for tests in south and west Auckland.
It says a rapid internal review found an error was made converting clinically accurate material approved by subject matter experts into messaging for the public.
Any future messages will have to be signed out by a senior responsible official.
There were five new cases of COVID-19 reported today – two travellers in managed isolation and quarantine and three community cases.
The community cases had already identified as close contacts of the Mount Roskill Evangelical Church sub-cluster and were in self isolation.
