Kiwa looks to cloud to drive growth
A win at this week’s New Zealand International Business Awards could open investment doors for creative agency Kiwa Digital.
The Māori-owned private company, whose VoiceQ software is used for dubbing translations of shows such as the hugely successful Squid Games, won the Māori excellence in export tohu at the New Zealand Trade and Enterprise-backed awards.
Chief executive Steven Renata says the company is at a stage where it could need new funding for the next stage of its growth, which will involve creating a cloud-based version of VoiceQ which can be used remotely rather than needing to be downloaded to a device.
“A lot of the adapters, these are people that are working on scripts and so forth, and the voice talent are all working remotely so to have cloud technology is not an innovation, it is actually a necessity, and we have content owners now sayng ‘if you can provide some cloud solutions that give us some oversight over what our vendors are doing, this is huge,'” he says.
Mr Renata says there is also an opportunity to create an international market for the sort of cultural intelligence and education apps which Kiwa has been developing for firms and organisations in Aotearoa.
