Givealittle push for Ratana whare rebuild

Morehu in Raetihi have launched a Givealittle page to raise the $1 million needed to fully restore a century-old Rātana whare whakamoemiti.
Āpotoro Rēhita Koro Robbie Williams says so far the community has raised about $60,000 for the project, and the page will allow whānau in other centres and overseas to contribute.
He says the building dubbed by the prophet Tahupotiki Wiremu Ratana as Taku Whare Tuatahi or my first house is only still standing because of the power of prayer.
Sills van Bohemen Architects have developed restoration plans including a seismic upgrade, new foundations, recladding including a return to traditional timber weatherboards, and completely rebuilding the distinctive twin towers.
