Vaccine battalion finds Māori hold-outs
The western battalion has joined forces with the southern battalion with more than 100 vaccinators from Te Whānau o Waipareira out on the streets of Papakura today.
Papakura Marae chief executive Tony Kake expects the Waipareira team’s experience in Manurewa yesterday, with most of the recipients being first doses, will be replicated today.
“We had 391 vaccinated on Saturday just gone and most of them were first times which I think is what the story was for Manurewa yesterday, so many first timers coming out of the woodwork which is awesome – late, but awesome,” he says.
Papakura Marae will also give booster shots, so those vaccinated over six months ago can ignore the booking system and come on in.
