Collins leaves treaty choice to members

Judith Collins says as the leader of National’s parliamentary wing she won’t be telling the delegates how to vote on a motion to put a reference to the Treaty of Waitangi in the party constitution.
National holds its annual meeting on the weekend and about 700 delegates are expected.
Ms Collins says she’s comfortable with the treaty being referenced as a founding document, but she’s only one vote.
"We do very much believe every delegate gets the same vote. I'm not going to push them around or give them my view. I'll give them the fact I'm very comfortable but I'm also not going to try and push a view that is not necessarily going to be agreed to by members, so we need to let them them have their discussions and have their vote and we will accept it," she says.
