Photo: The Big Idea.
A 20-minute extract from Mika X’s musical biopic of infamous Māori drag queen Carmen Rupe will premiere in next month’s New Zealand International Film Festival.
GURL will screen in the Ngā Whanaunga Māori Pasifika Shorts 2020 selection and in limited festival screenings.
Carmen is played by Jay Tewake with support from Jackie Clarke, Brady Peeti and Regan Taylor.
