Home detention for Pārengarenga trust looting

A former trustee of a far north forestry trust has been sentenced to 12 months’ home detention and $5000 reparation for fraud.
Margaret Dixon had earlier pleaded guilty to three charges of theft by person in special relationship.
The Serious Fraud Office says with the alleged involvement of her brother Stephen Hēnare she facilitated the transfer of almost $1 million from Pārengarenga 3G into various personal accounts and family trusts.
SFO director, Julie Read says Dixon’s sentence was reduced because she cooperated.
Hēnare pleaded not guilty and is still to be tried.
