Labour Ratana link etched in blood
Government parties go to Ratana Pa today in what has become the set-piece to the start of the political year.
The hui has a special resonance this year as it marks the start of events marking the centenary of church founder Tahupotiki Wiremu Ratana receiving a vision at Whangaehu.
Jacinda Ardern will go onto the marae about 11 this morning in her first visit as Prime Minister.
Manurewa MP Louisa Wall, who has been going to the annual hui with her Tuwharetoa whanau since she was a child, and it will be great to be there as part of the new Government.
"I will sit on our mana whenua side with my colleagues Adrian Rurawhe and Rino Tirikatene. We are very proud to be members of the morehu, to be Ratana," she says.
