Sports commentator Ken Laban says the Bay of Plenty Magic and Netball New Zealand should be embarrassed by the Sunshine Coast Lightning’s title win in the new Australian national netball championship.
That’s because coach Noeline Taurua only crossed the Tasman after parting with the Magic, which Mr Laban says was because some board members tried to interfere with her work.
She then missed out on coaching the Silver Ferns.
She showed her class at the weekend with a dominant win over the Sydney Giants.
"The side she put together was a phenomenal side. She's a tough no nonsense straight talking coach. Everybody knows exactly where they stand but she is just one of those personalities that's not going to be controlled by other people. It's her way or the highway," says Ken Laban.
