TE POU MATAKANA CONFERENCE 2016 – Deputy Prime Minister Bill English
Bill English says it's satisfying to see things we wanted to happen actually happening.
"Fundamentally it's the sense of ownership of the rangatiratanga and the sense that relationships matter, enourmously in how we collectively can help whanau realise their aspirations because these are characteristics of this programme that aren't common across all the other spending all the other work that government does. So what Tariana hoped would always be the kaupapa here is turning out to be the case. That is how you overcome skeptism and opposition and the occasional failure. I'm really pleased with what we see. That means what you are doing is pretty challenging to the rest of the system …. In the end the politicians will go with it if you fight for it and argue for it,".
