LA First Nations intrigued by Whanau Ora promise
Waipareira’s technology subsidiary Whanau Tahi has discovered if it is to sell its software in the United States, it may also need to export Whanau Ora.
Director Steve Keung has just returned from signing a memorandum of understanding with United American Indian Involvement Inc, which provide services to the 300,000 Native Americans living in the Los Angeles area.
He says it has to deal with multiple federal, state, county, city and non-government organisations.
"They’ve seen what we have done down there. They like the concept of whanau ora. Their challenge is how do you break through that red tape, and with the template and the exemplar of whanau ora being rolled out here particularly through Te Pou Matakana and Waipareira and other providers around the country, they’re intrigued and they definitely want to know how they can duplicate that for them," Mr Keung says.
The MOU allows Whanau Tahi to share key documents about Whanau Ora as well as further discuss the possible licensing of its software, which allows health and social service providers to keep track of clients receiving multiple services.
