Tamaki Makaurau MP Peeni Henare is slating Auckland mayor Len Brown over his lack of action on the Ports of Auckland wharf extensions.
Mr Henare says the port company cancelled a briefing for Labour’s Auckland MPs on the issue, which is indicative of the high handed attitude of management and senior decision-makers.
He says mana whenua and the wider public are opposed to the work because of its effect on the harbour, but the council-owned company refuses to listen.
"I’m concerned the mayor is I won’t say washing his hands, he is almost turning a blind eye to what is going on when we need him at this time to stand up for the people who are clearly against this going ahead," Mr Henare says.
