Craig gunning for Maori seats

Conservatives leader Colin Craig is lining up to get rid of Maori seats and treaty claims if he’s part of the next government.
The property management magnate is campaigning on a one law to rule us all platform, similar to the line taken by National under leaders Bill English and Don Brash.
He told Radio Waatea host Willie Jackson that the seven Maori seats amount to segregation and need to go.
"It wasn’t Maori that thought up the Maori seats. It wasn’t Maori who said they want to be segregated. If you want to put it crudely, that was the white man’s idea, let’s partition Maori over there with some seats that are labelled for them. This is a governmental issue. It’s one that hasn’t been handled well. I think we can do it much better. We’re a party that is looking to get into parliament and we are making it very clear that we will take a different direction to government in the past." Mr Craig says.
He’s keen to get any remaining claims settled quickly so the country can move on.
