MTV scraps CEO picks
Maori Television has scrapped its shortlist for a new chief executive and will have to start again.
Chairperson Georgina Te Heuheu says the board was unable to reach a unanimous decision, so has decided it needs to take more time to achieve the best outcome.
Questions were raised in parliament about the process, and whether Mrs Te Heuheu was trying to influence it in favour of her friend Paora Maxwell.
The other shortlisted candidate was Richard Jefferies.
Mrs Te Heuheu says she regrets the distress the controversy caused to the candidates and to the impact the process had on staff.
An announcement will be made on who will be interim chief executive when Jim Mather leaves next month, and the board will consult with key stakeholders, the Crown and its electoral college, Te Putahi Paoho, on its next steps.
