Rotorua kapa haka group Ngā Uri ō te Whanoa are off to Hawaii to fly the flag for Aotearoa in the invitational Te Manahua Māori Song and Dance competition in Oahu.
Female leader Kahurangi Maxwell says the festival is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Polynesian Cultural Centre, where many Māori have worked and performed over the years.
Other Māori groups taking part include Ngāti Ranana from London and a group from Salt Lake City.
