New manager for MWWL
The new general manager of the Māori Women’s Welfare League is promising to reach out to younger wahine.
A stalwart has been picked as the organisation’s new general manager.
Awhimai Reynolds was picked to replace Jacqui Te Kani, who died last October.
She has been working as Māori health manager for national drug buying agency Pharmac.
She has also worked in information technology, treaty claims and health.
Mrs Reynolds says the challenge is to give the league a contemporary look and appeal to younger women without compromising its core principles.
National President Kataraina O’Brien, who has run the office since October, says the 60-year-old organisation is looking to refresh and appeal to the next generation for sustainability.
