Union rolling over on job cuts says Tamihere
Māori Party president John Tamihere is taking the Public Service Association for not pushing back harder against government job cuts.
The Government has already slashed more than 3500 jobs in its search for cash to fund tax cuts.
Mr Tamihere says it reminds him of previous rounds of slash and burn restructuring.
“I just sit back and watch union leadership when we got rolled by Roger Douglas and roll by, etcetera, etcetera and you just wonder
when do you use the only mana that you’ve got which the withdrawal of your labour? Anyway, that’s what we’d be doing if we were running unions,” he says.
Mr Tamihere says public sector unions only seem to strike during Labour Governments.
