Tamihere taking direct approach to software sales
Waipareira Trust chief executive and Māori Party president John Tamihere says Māori traders need to cut out the middle man.
The west Auckland social services trust has entered memorandums of understanding with several Hawaiian, United States First Nations and Canadian Indigenous organsations.
He says 10 of the organisations are rolling out the Whanau Tahu system developed to manage health and social service delivery, and Waipareira is also talking with potential customers in places like China and Taiwan.
“There’s Indigenous peoples in all of these places and what we should do is bypass all the middle men that clip our ticket and we’re always standing at the gate of the farrm getting lefotovers and all the men trading our product seem to be doing a lot better than us, so what we need to do is cut a lot of the middle men out clipping our ticket and understand international markets, international law,” Mr Tamihere says.
