Race relations set back by Government agenda
Greens co-leader Marama Davison says the Government’s plan for its first 100 days is a racist legislative assault on New Zealand’s foundation document, Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
She says initiatives to affirm the mana of Maori and Maori language and improve Maori wellbeing are on the chopping block.
“It is designed to say these things don’t matter, Maori communities don’t matter and it’s taking u backwards by decades, not just in legislation but in race relations because it is affirming ignorance and fear and racism,” Ms Davidson says.
She says all the Government is concerned about is appeasing wealthy donors and producing tax cuts.
