Support parties key as poll shows Labour weaker
Greens co-leader Marama Davidson says October’s election will be a being between a government influenced by the Green Party or the ACT Party.
A poll done by Talbot Mills puts Labour at 31 points, its lowest since 2019, with National and 36 points and support parties ACT and the Greens at 12 and 8 percent respectively.
Ms Davidson says she’s disappointed at the signal it gives.
It comes down to whether or not people want to undo the progress made over the past five years on poverty, climate action and housing.
“The ACT-led National Government will want to wind back climate protection, environmental protection and will want to punish low-income people even further, so those are the choices people have. For the Greens, we won’t work with anybody who doesn’t agree to take strong climate action and address inequality properly,” she says.
Ms Davidson says the more votes the Greens get the more influence they can have over the next government.
