The Government has delivered on its commitment to put an extra 1800 Police on the front line, with the graduation today of Police wing 366 from the Royal New Zealand Police College.
Police Minister Ginny Andersen says it fixes a decade of National Party cuts that left Police underfunded and under-resourced.
Since 2017 the number of police officers have increase 21 percent to 10,700, with the number of Māori officers increasing by 40 percent, Pasifika 83 percent, Asian 157 percent and women 61 percent.
“Thirty-five percent of wing 366 are women, 14 percent are Māori, 16 percent are Pasifika, and 5 percent are Asian.
