Hauora Māori play catch up on immunization

Health practices and hauora providers are pulling out the stops this week for Nationwide Immunisation Week.
Te Aka Whai Ora chief medical officer Rawiri McKree Jansen says the message has been getting through on flu vaccinations, but there are critically low levels of community immunity for measles, mumps and whooping cough among tamariki and pepe.
“We’ve got a whole bunch of things organised. There’s 60 events in Maori providers this week and there’s about 1000 places you get your vaccinations done, all the health clinics and stuff like that. There’s a bit of concern at the childhood immunisations but let’s notice the flu vaccinations are tracking really well
Dr Jansen says.
The immunisation push will continue after Sunday.
