Tīkanga disrespectful says Chris Luxon National Party
National Party Leader Chris Luxon has branded the use of tīkanga in Parliament as disrespectful.
The Leader was attacking Te Pāti Māori and te whakawaatea perfomed for Meka Whaitiri in the debating chamber this week.
“It was incredibly disrespectful, but the bigger issue here is that there is just no philosophical alignment between the Māori Party and the National Party.” says Chris Luxon.
He therefore ruled out working with Te Pāti Māori post the 2023 elections. He says, the bridge between the Parties is too wide to cross.
“National believes in one country-one standard of citizenship and one person-one vote”. says Chris Luxon
The National Party Leader denies he is ‘dog-whistling’.
