Māori Tourism head keen on Covid trust model
Māori Tourism chair Dale Stephens says the retention of the seven-day isolation period for Covid-19 cases could create uncertainty for international travellers.
He says the Government needs to think carefully about the impact of its decisions on operators, especially when they are still desperately trying to get people travelling to the regions.
“So just need to make sure we get our people through this safely and I’d like to see us move to a situation where we trust our people when they are ill to take Covid tests and if they have got Covid to be away from work and away from other people and as soon as they are over it to reintegrate and give us all an opportunity to operate as a society on that trust model,”Mr Stephens says.
He says the sector is still mainly held up by domestic and Australian tourists,
