Aotearoa still in mind of new king

The Prime Minister says New Zealand has a special place in King Charles’ heart.
Jacinda Ardern met with the new King while in the United Kingdom for the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.
She says he has visited New Zealand as many times as the Queen, and many of his interests as Prince of Wales were aligned with this country.
“He has a real interest in the role of forestry in making sure we meet our climate goals but also in giving employment opportunities to young people – he has been long interested in youth employment and climate change – so every time I have a conversation with him you can tell he’s genuinely interested in what New Zealand is doing,” she says.
Prime Minister Ardern says royal visits have often brought with them a valuable focus on whether the Treaty of Waitangi is being upheld and how much more needs to be done.
