Sydney forum chance for indigenous business bonding
An event in Sydney at the end of the month could open up opportunities for indigenous people both sides of the Tasman to work together.
Dale Stephens, the director of Māori partnership at New Zealand Trade and Enterprise, says the Indigenous Sector Business Group is part of the Australia / New Zealand Leadership Forum.
He says the forum, and a subsequent visit to Melbourne to talk to Go Victoria about indigenous business, is a chance for networking and mentoring,
“We’re seeing it a lot in tourism where indigenous groups, especially across the South Pacific, have been working v closely together. Now we’re starting to see it in other areas. In particular we are looking at high tech, high spec manufacturing, value add to primary products and there’s a lot of work we’re doing around cultural misappropriation and how we can protect out taonga, not just New Zealand but all out whānau across the South Pacific,” Mr Stephens says.
