Experience puts Morgan back in driving seat

New Waikato Tainui executive chair Tukoroirangi Morgan says he has the track record to deliver in the role.
The former broadcaster, MP, and treaty negotiator was elected to fill the top spot on Te Arataura vacated by Linda Te Aho, who continues to sit on the board.
He says the iwi will benefit from his ability to traverse the minefield of the political process at a time of its a time of transformational change with the introduction of Māori wards on councils, the Resource Management Act and Three Waters reforms and the health reforms.
He also has the experience from his previous stint as chair.
“Our board worked to establish (what was) at that time the largest retail centre in the country. Before Covid about 7 million people a year used to come to The Base in Te Rapa, and of course, the Airport Novatel is one of our iconic hotels so we did a lot of stuff when I was there last time,” Mr Morgan says.
