Tribunal stands up to political bluster
Health claimant Lady Tureiti Moxon says the Waitangi Tribunal’s urgent inquiry into the disestablishment of Te Aka Whai Ora shows it’s not going to be bullied into irrelevance by the Waitangi Tribunal.
The claim from Lady Moxon and Janice Kuka will be heard in October.
She says it’s a great outcome after the Government scuttled their earlier claim by rushing the legislation to disestablish the Maori health authority on to the order paper.
“So we’re very pleased we have been put in this part of the priority hearing and I think it’s very important they do make recommendations and put the report out,” she says.
Lady Moxon says the fate of Maori health authority brings to the forefront many of issues Maori have been grappling.
