A large-scale digital art installation by Lisa Reihana is one of the highlights of the just-completed $67.5m, four-year refurbishment of Auckland’s Aotea Centre, or Aotea – Te Pokapū.
Ihi tells the story of Ranginui and Papatūānuku on two 65 sqm screens that can be viewed from three levels.
Auckland Unlimited chief executive Nick Hill says it’s is an important addition to the country’s public art.
The upgrade included waterproofing, new roofing and cladding, a curtain wall and skylight in the main atrium and an upgraded smoke extraction system.
