Construction starts today of a 20-unit papakainga at Motueka.
Ministers Peeni Henare and Willie Jackson joined the community of Te Āwhina Marae o Motueka for a dawn blessing of the site.
Mr Henare says it’s the largest papakāinga project Te Puni Kōkiri has supported, with Government investing $10 million into the $12.3 million project.
It’s part of a wider marae redevelopment, and it will mean to whānau can continue to live in the area and support the marae.
