Omicron struggles fuel for video series

A Maniapoto wahine hopes her videos of her whānau’s struggles with Covid-19 help people see Omicron as a serious threat.
Tepara Koti started video logging when her teenage son contracted the virus, forcing the whānau including her elderly mother, primary school-age daughter and pēpi to also isolate together at home.
It was a way to answer questions posed by friends and whānau once she also tested positive.
“Some of the information that might seem easy to find online is not really acceptable for our kaumatua. I really wanted to help in that sense too, I have a lot of involvement with our kaumatua from Ngāti Maniapoto who live in Tāmaki Makarau. Whānau who do follow me can share that message with them, and go along and check in on them.” Ms Koti says.
Tepara Koti says it’s a scary time for whānau.
