Download AudioAnimation Research head Ian Taylor’s plan for an alterative to managed isolation and quarantine has got the tick for a trial.
The #151 Off The Bench plan will allow essential business travelers self-isolate at home after taking tests pre-departure and on arrival.
Mr Taylor says it can help people who have been stuck overseas for a long time, as well as address the need for businesses to travel overseas to keep the economy going.
“We do need to get businesses travelling overseas but we shouldn’t be treated in that privileged position where we demand privileged and priority places in MIQ. Other people, people who haven’t seen their families, people who want to get home for tangi, all those things are really important,” he says.
Ian Taylor says while #151 Off The Bench is designed for small groups of business people, it could eventually be extended to sports teams and other groups where safety from infection can be guaranteed.
