Continuity the key in Green portfolios
Labour deputy leader Kelvin Davis says the cooperation with the Greens lays the foundation for strong and stable government.
Under the deal signed yesterday, the Greens will give Labour confidence and supply agreement and co-leaders Marama Davidson will be Ministers outside cabinet.
Ms Davidson will have an associate housing role focusing on homelessness, and also picks up to prevention of family and sexual violence portfolio held as undersecretary in the last Government by her green colleague Jan Logie.
"It's common sense that there is continuity in these portfolios. Also James Shaw, the Minister for Climate change, he knows that kaupapa inside out and of course climate change is big both for the Labour Party and the Green Party and I really look forward to working together with them," Mr Davis says.
He says as it will be an all-Labour cabinet the Government will be able to push through kaupapa important to the Labour party, and lawmaking should be a lot quicker without the need to negotiate with coalition partners.
The cabinet line up will be announced this afternoon after the Labour caucus meets to elect members of the executive.
