Bidois confident of Northcote surge
Northcote MP Dan Bidois is taking aim not at his Labour rival but at his predecessor.
In the 2018 by-election Shanan Halbert lost by 1310 votes, almost 5000 votes fewer than his deficit against Jonathan Coleman the previous year.
Mr Bidois is dismissing reports of polling putting Mr Halbert ahead this year, and says the vibe is good on the streets.
"The whole of the North Shore is National. I expect it to remain National after the election. My goal is to beat my former MP's majority, Jonathan Coleman, and he had a 6000 vote majority at the last election so if we can beat that, it is success for us on election day and we are working hard to beat Jonathan's prior majority," he says.
