Community encouraged to get free vaccination
Media Release 24 July 2020|The Counties Manukau Health Immunisation team is encouraging the community to attend a free vaccination day at the Free Church of Tonga in Mangere on Saturday, 25 July, 2020.
“Vaccinations are important to protect families, especially our babies and it helps to prevent a range of infections,” says Public Health Nurse, Sita Moala.
Nurse Moala and a team of nurses will be on hand this weekend to give free vaccinations for all ages including flu, childhood vaccinations and for Year 7 and 8 children requiring Boostrix and Human Papillomavirus (HPV).
“So much has happened this year alone with COVID-19 and while there is no current vaccination for COVID-19, there is vaccine to counter other serious infectious diseases like the flu, hepatitis B and Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR),” says Nurse Moala.
“Immunisation helps families to fight off germs before they can make you sick and offering sessions locally enables better access for our community. Everyone is welcome to come along and parents are encouraged to bring their Well Child booklets where appropriate.”
The Immunisation team will be on site at 47 Favona Road, Mangere from 8.30am-2pm.
