National role in Ihumaatao negative
That's the response of a Soul founder to Simon Bridges' call for the Prime Minister to tell the Ihumaatao protesters to go home.
Qiane Matata Sipu says the National Party leader is running true to form.
"It was the National Party who created the Special Housing Areas Act and it was them who in essence put Ihumaatao into this position. This issue is not a treaty issue, it is a cultural landscape issue, it's an injustice issue, and you can't look at this whenua in isolation," she says.
Qiane Matata Sipu says politicians should come out to the whenua and see for themselves the wairua of the protesters before they sound off.
