Watermark Haka dance threatre set for Otautahi

Auckland dance group Hawaiki TU is taking its latest haka theatre work to next month’s Body Festival in Christchurch.

Co-artistic director Kura Te Ua says Kurawaka is a novel multi-disciplinary take on the Maori creation story.

Hawaiki TU’s point of difference is it presents authentic kapa haka in a contemporary way combining karakia, waiata, taonga puoro, traditional movement and mau rakau with cinematic imagery and lighting effects.
