Decks fall silent for DJ Poroufessor
Tributes are flowing for Hone Ngata, also known as DJ Poroufessor, who brought a Maori vibe to hip hop.
Ngata died yesterday.
Ardijah singer Betty Anne Monga says the news came as a shock, especially given his youth.
She says he was a positive contributor to the music world, including giving Maori sounds an international profile.
"He always had this embracement to keep everybody warm and he really cared about people. If he had a talk with you, have a korero, he would talk with you and it was togetherness," she says.
