Maori radio community champions

It's World Radio Day, and New Zealand First broadcasting spokesperson Jenny Marcroft, says that's an opportunity to celebrate the important, but often overlooked, role that radio plays in our communities.
The former radio broadcaster says people get their news first from radio, and more than 80 percent of the New Zealand population listens to the radio each week.
She says Maori Radio and Access Radio deserve special appreciation for their dedication and commitment to being a voice for their communities.
The theme of the day this year is the role radio plays in democratic debate and fostering peace and tolerance.
