Action Station is calling for Māori voices and views to take prominence in the justice review.
The digital advocacy group has put together a collaborative research project aimed at drawing out those perspectives and solutions to present to the Safe and Effective Justice Advisory Panel.
They're Our Whānau was coordinated by Dr Keri Lawson-Te Aho with help from fourth year medical students.
Action Station director Laura O'Connell Rapira says it's long overdue.
"Māori are so dramatically and our entire whānau are dramatically affected by the justice system and yet what we found in the literature, apart from the great work of matua Moana Jackson, there isn't a lot that has been done to get Māori perspectives and Māori opinions on what needs to be done to fix our justice crisis," she says.
They're Our Whānau will be launched tonight at the University of Otago in Wellington.
